The Efrat and Gush Etzion marathon
The Efrat and Gush Etzion marathon has become a tradition, and this year with greater cooperation with the international company "saucony" and an official survey of the Israeli Athletics Association, thousands of participants will run in the special landscapes of Gush Etzion and experience the connection between Jerusalem and Efrat.
For your convenience, here are details about the upcoming race. Transportation is available as well:
The Marathon which will take place on Friday, 9 th of Adar, 5.4.2019, will be held in 4 different race distances :
Route 21.5 km:
Start point: Armon HaNatziv Promenade - Hebron Road - Tunnels - Efrat Northern Junction - Internal Dagan road - David HaMelech
Starting point at 06:30AM from Armon Hanatziv Promenade
Route 10 km:
Starting point : Rehov Hashayarot Kikar Eitan in the Rimon - Hagefen Street - Netzach Yerushalayim Street - David Hamelech- Youth Headquarters ( Mateh Noar )- Netzer Yishai Street - rimon- kikar Eitan Southern Entrance to Efrat - Migdal Oz- end point is Park Haasor

Road closures by neighborhoods:
Between 06:50-08:45 AM
a complete closure, the runners will move inside the neighborhood, so traffic within the neighborhood is limited. After 08:45 it is possible to travel towards Jerusalem without restriction on Rlroute 60, and driving south will be limited to the Dekel Shopping Center.
Estimated time for back to routine from 11:15AM
The Tamar neighborhood
Between 06:50-08:45 AM, a complete closure through david hamelech (you can not leave the neighborhood), there is no disturbance within the Tamar neighborhood.
After 08:45 it is possible to drive north without restriction to Route 60, & driving south will be limited until the Dekel Shopping Center.
Back to normal routine by 11:15
The Zayit Neighborhood
Between 06:50-08:45, a complete road closure to David Hamelech road (no exit from the neighborhood), there is no disturbance within the neighborhood.
By 7:00AM you can go south.
After 08:45 it is possible to drive to the northern exit and route 60 without restriction, driving south will be limited until the Dekel Shopping Center.
Back to normal routine by 11:15
The Dekel neighborhood
Runners will be running inside the neighborhood and therefore traffic within the neighborhood is limited.
Rehovot: Shivat Tzion, Nehemia, Zechariah, Shealtiel, Koresh, Ezra Dekel, Zrubavel - full closure towards David Hamelech Street between 07:45-08:45.
It is possible to drive south only until 07:00AM
After 08:45 it is possible to drive north without restriction, driving south will be limited to the Dekel Shopping Center.
Rehovot: Netzach Yerushalayim, Migdal.Eder, Chaggai, Maale Ein tZurim, Maale Kfar Etzion, Ma'ale Revadim, Ma'ale Masuot Yitzhak and Halamed Hey st can only drive south until 07:00AM
Full road closure on Netzach Street and david hamelech will be from 07:00AM
Opening roads towards the tzfoni will be at 10:15AM, full back to routine- 11:15AM
Rehov Hashayarot will be closed from 06:30AM until 11:15AM
The Park Haasor is closed between 06:30 and 11:15
Runners will be running along the neighborhood and therefore traffic within the neighborhood is limited.
Residents of the geffen can leave the southern gate until 07:15AM
Park Haasor is closed between 06:30AM-11:15AM
Between 07:30-10:15, there will be a complete blockage of the neighborhood.
Starting at 10:15 you can only travel north.
Starting at 11:15, roads will be reopening and back to regular routine.
The Te'ena neighborhood:
Runners will be running along the neighborhood and therefore traffic within the Teena is limited.
One can leave Efrats South gate until 8:45 . kikar Eitan will have an open route for cars to slowly have traffic movement.
Full closure of the neighborhood between 08:45-11:00.
Back to normal routine by 11:15
The Rimon neighborhood
Residents of the rimon will be able to leave the Efrat South gate until 8:45 in the Eitan square. A barrier will be erected to route the traffic.
At 08:45 another closure will be blocked at Netzer Yishai st.

Derech Hebron road until
Rehov Harozmarin will be closed from 6:15AM-7AM.
The tunnels until northern entrance of Efrat will be closed 6:15-8:15 .
Efrat- Tekoa closed 9AM - 10:30AM.
The Southern gate of Efrat will be closed between 9AM- 11AM
Northern Efrat gate will be closed : 6:50AM-8:45AM

How can one find out about the road closures and openings during real time during the marathon?
During the event we will send messages through the Efrat app, make sure that your app is installed and that the "Traffic Updates" field is marked. In addition, there is a telephone number 02-9939377 that operates throughout the year.
Please do not call the moked unless it is an for emergency purposes only!
Will there be schools and ganim as usual on friday?
All educational systems will be open from 9AM.
Are there any changes in the buse transportation in Efrat?
Transportation announcements were issued through the schools
To the giva hatzehuba on transportation will take place in the zayit Tamar Dagan and Dekel gimmel neighborhoods starting at 08:45 and going through the northern gate. Students from the southern neighborhoods will take their hasaot at 08:30 from the kikar in Teena.
Will there be changes for bus transportation for the special ed system?
Each driver will be in touch with their list of kids/ family.
Will there be regular bus transportation from Jerusalem to Efrat / Gush?

From what time does the traffic return to full routine?
As of 11:15 all roads are expected to open but there may traffic as it will be opening and moving slowly.
When can one start coming to the shopping centers?
Dekel- as of 8:45 for those coming from the northern neighborhoods
Rimon shopping center from 11AM
Is one allowed to drive on the security roads?
Absolutely not! It is for the security patrols to drive through and in case of emergency plus there will be runners running there.
Are there Arab workers allowed to enter and work on friday during the race day?
No, the entry of workers into construction sites is completely prohibited. The entrance of a private worker with prior approval can enter once approved and if your request was filled in via form

Will Merkaz Yafit be open as usual?
Yes, from 8:15-11:15 all classes will take place. One can only arrive walking to the center.
Will the library be opened as usual?
Yes, but one can only arrive by foot.
I signed up for the marathon, where and when does one pick up their running kit?
At the matnas Geffen between 2pm 8PM on THURSDAY, or on friday at the starting point.
How does one arrive to starting point in Jerusalem?
Buses will be leaving at 5AM from the industrial zone of Gush through kikar eitan and the northern gate. All runners who signed up for the 21.5 will receive an email to notify them.
