Families
The role of the social worker is to facilitate the family and to serve as an accompanying and mediating factor in front of the various authorities. The family social worker meets with family members as needed, refers to caregivers in the community, and maintains contact with them. The social worker is responsible for convening care planning committees and enforcing decisions, monitoring minors in foster care and boarding schools, referring minors to daycare centers under the Toddlers at Risk Act, and updating them on their condition during the year if necessary. In addition, the family social worker handles requests for financial aid.
Family care is provided on various levels:
Accompaniment and emotional support for parents
Therapeutic services for families provided for a nominal fee
Assistance and guidance regarding financial difficulties
Arranging children in day care centers, daily foster care and preschool clubs
Mentoring for children and teenagers.
Afternoon clubs for school-age children.
Out-of-home arrangement (dorms, foster care)
Providing home help and help for special needs family members
