Explanation Of the Water Bill

How to calculate the water bill:
The charge for water consumption and sewage services is a product of the quantities of water consumed during the billing period, in the water and sewage tariff set by the Government Water and Sewage Authority.

Water consumption:
Water consumption is determined by the difference between the current reading on the water meter and the previous reading, in cubic meters. In order for the water meter to be read correctly, please ensure maximum accessibility.

Consumption in a "private" water meter:
The consumption in the water meter reflects the private consumption in the unit (for example in an apartment or in a store). This consumption will be added to joint consumption, if any.

Measurement differences (shared consumption):
If there is a difference between the main water meter and the total private water meter, the
measurement differences are divided equally among all the units in a common property, unless the representative of the common house has invented documents, in accordance with the provisions of section 58 of the Real Estate Law, and is added to the private consumption as consumption for everything. The reasons for the measurement differences are varied, the most common of which are: rinsing, irrigation or visible / hidden leaks.

Consumer responsibility for the private water network:
The Efrat Local Council is responsible for the municipal-public water network only (up to the main meter in each property). The consumer is responsible for the integrity of the private and shared water network in the property, including water loss resulting from leaks or faulty accessories in the network.

Type of reading:
This means whether the consumption charge was made according to the actual reading of the water meter or according to an estimate.
When it is not possible to read the water meter, due to lack of accessibility, suspicion of the meter's malfunction, or lack of meter, consumption will be determined according to the estimate. In order for the water meter to be read correctly, maximum accessibility must be ensured.

Water bill payment:
The water and sewage bill must be paid by the date specified in the bill. Failure to pay the bill on time will require interest and may result in a charge for enforcement expenses, lawsuits, and even disconnection of the water meter.

Submitting a request for clarification of the water bill:
Upon receipt of the bill, all of the details should be checked. A request can be submitted for a clarification of the water bill within 30 days from the deadline set for payment. Filing an appeal against the account can not be a reason for the account not being repaid on the set date.
